Sudbury CIAC endorses $2.2M DPW garage floor and most FY27 capital articles

SUDBURY — March 4, 2026 — Sudbury Capital Improvement Advisory Committee endorses $2.2 million DPW garage floor and most of FY27 capital slate. Chair Matthew Dallas led the committee 6-0 through a $2.2 million Article 32 recommendation despite member Tom Travers's objection that the 23.5 percent contingency on $1.5 million in direct construction cost left "almost 30 percent of costs that are not quantified." Combined Facilities Director Sandra Duran defended the number from professional estimator schematics; Assistant Town Manager Victor Garofalo cited a projected $500,000-plus return on the Atkinson Pool contingency as precedent. Members also approved $660,000 for school fire alarm upgrades, $550,000 for Fire Department SCBA, $450,000 for school safety work tied to a U.S. CISA walkthrough with Chief Scott Nix, $200,000 for ADA transition work, and $1.12 million in DPW vehicles, while deferring a $147,679 Lincoln-Sudbury wastewater panel article over an unanswered specification question.
