Sudbury Budget Document Earns National Recognition

Sudbury's town government earned national recognition this week for the clarity of its budget presentation, Sudbury Patch reported. The honor arrived alongside a handful of smaller Town Hall updates, from a historic-marker restoration project to a fresh school enrollment count.

TOWN HALL

Sudbury's budget office picked up a national award for how it presents town spending and financial plans, according to Sudbury Patch (see Elsewhere in the News, below).

Separately, the Sudbury Historical Commission announced the restoration and repainting of directional markings on four of the town's historic granite markers, part of a project tied to a 19th-century tradition of roadside guideposts used across Massachusetts, the commission said.

SCHOOLS

Sudbury Public Schools posted a projected enrollment update on Aug. 21, giving families and the School Committee fresh figures heading into the new school year. Grades 1 through 8 return Sept. 2, with kindergarten and prekindergarten welcome days set for Sept. 2 and 3; staff report for professional development Aug. 31 and Sept. 1.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The town's Recovery Month programming continues this fall with a screening of "Recovery City" and a cast Q&A set for Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 5:30 p.m. in the Fairbank Community Center, according to the town's social worker's office. Registration is open now.
