Stony Brook Athletic Upgrades Complete as Stage III Water Restrictions Hold
The J.V. Fletcher Library is rolling out a full slate of summer programs as the town also reminds residents that Stage III outdoor water restrictions remain in effect, capping a week of modest but consequential municipal activity.

Two standing items from the town's News Flash board are worth flagging as the summer season opens. The Westford Water Department's Stage III outdoor water restrictions — triggered by sustained excessive non-essential water demand — remain in effect immediately and apply to all residents. The restrictions are the most stringent the department issues, so households with irrigation systems or outdoor water features should review the department's compliance guidelines at westfordma.gov before running any outdoor water.
Separately, the town announced this week that the Stony Brook track and athletic court improvement project is now complete, returning the facility to full community use heading into summer. The town also continues to seek volunteers willing to support elections and town meeting operations — residents interested in civic service can find information on the town website.

The J.V. Fletcher Library — operating out of its temporary home at 515 Groton Road while the historic Main Street building undergoes a major renovation and expansion — has a string of programs on the calendar for the coming week. On Monday, June 29, the Monday Mystery Book Club meets at the Roudenbush Community Center, third floor. Tuesday, June 30 brings ZMakesBeads with Zangar, a beading program for children and tweens/teens, also at Roudenbush. Wednesday, July 1 features the Craft Lounge, a drop-in creative session for tweens and teens at 65 Main St., third floor.
Looking slightly further ahead: Farm Tales Storytime is set for Tuesday, July 7, and the library's popular Farm on the Go program will take families to Good Pickin' Farm at 5 Gould Road on Wednesday, July 8, from 10 a.m. to noon. The library's 2026 Summer Reading theme — "Plant a Seed, Read!" — runs all summer and is open to all ages.
The library will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.
