Billerica Select Board votes to help save the 129-year-old Faulkner Kindergarten from closure. The board voted 5-0 to direct town counsel to assist the school's board and explore having the town take over its outside trust, after director Debbie said the school can pay staff only through the end of October because a Kentucky-administered trust has repeatedly delayed its annual distribution. Member Michael S.
Rosa said "something nefarious" may explain the fund's changing structure. Separately, the board voted unanimously to fund a $1.6 million PFAS-settlement-backed pilot test of new water filtration technology rather than raise taxes. Town Manager Dillon also reported health insurance costs rose $3.4 million this year, with only $6 million left in the town's insurance trust after $8.2 million in withdrawals over two years.
