Pepperell Recreation Commission previews $1 million capital financing plan for field and facility repairs. Commission member Alan, who also sits on the town's capital committee, told the panel the roughly $1 million one-year "capital expenditure outlay" would cost the average taxpayer about $20 a month, calling it "eating out at McDonald's once, basically, right, a month." Possible uses include new field bleachers, a $35,000 gazebo repair and a $45,000 skate park repair, pending a spring town meeting presentation and likely a fall ballot vote. Separately, the commission set an April 15 deadline for a go-or-no-go call on Avery Hansen's stalled Eagle Scout volleyball court project, and youth soccer and softball representatives, James and Matt Thomas, both requested new equipment storage at town fields.

Peter Stickle of the Pepperell Cultural Council said the group awards about $450 on average from roughly $10,000 in annual grants, mostly for arts projects.
