Pepperell Climate Committee Postpones Solar-Siting Letter Over Meeting Law

Climate Change Committee · Meeting of February 19, 2026

Pepperell Climate Change Committee reworks outreach, tables letter on solar-siting bill. Members voted 6-0 to approve November minutes, then heard marketing consultant Joy Rio urge the group to set trackable goals, saying "the email list is the most powerful method of reaching your constituents." Member Mary proposed consolidating outreach into four topic areas and migrating to a new MassEnergize WordPress site by month's end, while flagging that the group has no budget to cover hosting fees currently paid by member Jim. Member Dave reported a $500 pollinator-garden grant and interest from the Pepperell Garden Club and Friends of Pepperell, but said plot registration is slipping toward May.

The committee tabled a proposed letter backing state forest-preservation solar legislation, citing open meeting law concerns about designating a spokesperson without a vote.
