GROTON — The Park Commission held a public hearing on a proposed Cow Pond fields overhaul without taking a vote on the plan. Activitas consultant Megan Buszynski put the project at about $4.28 million, with a 5 percent contingency on each item. The plan includes 303 parking spaces, a playground, relocation of youth baseball field 3 and lighting for a second baseball field.
Natural Heritage turtle habitat rules would require two-to-one mitigation. Residents called the playground "exorbitant." Buszynski said bidding could open in late March so hard bids are in hand before spring Town Meeting, with add alternate decisions around late February or early March.
