Override Question Set for Nov. 3 Ballot in Reading

Reading voters will decide a Proposition 2½ operational override for fiscal 2028 when it appears on the Nov. 3 state election ballot, the town said this week. The fiscal year in question begins July 1, 2027.

TOWN HALL The town posted a new FY28 Override Hub to its website this week laying out the override question ahead of the Nov. 3 vote. The Reading Public Schools website separately lists a "Proposition 2½ Override Summary FY28" as a quick link for residents, though neither site had posted a specific dollar figure or spending breakdown as of this week.

Town Manager Jayne Wellman also released her second monthly report, covering the town's activity in July. Separately, the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project is continuing truck-mounted aerosol spraying to control mosquito populations around Reading through the summer, with the schedule posted on the town's website.
