Medford Historic District Commission approves carriage-house ADU and Hillside Avenue window fixes on a thin 2-0 vote. Commission member James Mackey and the meeting's presiding member cast the only votes, with member Roberta Cameron sitting out pending her swearing-in; Cameron said she "would not have supported replacing the windows because they were inoperable" at 20 Hillside Avenue and would have preferred repair. The 21 Toro Avenue project, a rebuilt carriage house with an 899-square-foot accessory dwelling unit, shifted its footprint to keep the entrance within 50 feet of the street and avoid a sprinkler requirement.

At 20 Hillside Avenue, commissioners corrected the application to reflect a removed rear window shingled over, not a new door. With no pending applications, the commission is skipping August and returning September 10, and is actively recruiting new members to fill its board.
