McManus Shares Classroom Innovations on School Podcast
Paws on LPS · Meeting of October 1, 2026
Littleton teacher Kristen McManus discusses award-winning curriculum and statewide public media advocacy on school podcast. McManus, Littleton High School's history and social science curriculum coordinator for grades 6 through 12, was named second runner-up for Massachusetts History Teacher of the Year by DESE this summer after GBH honored her as an educator in May 2025, including a feature on a Massachusetts Turnpike digital billboard. Speaking with host Sean Ahern, Vice Chair of the Littleton School Committee, on the "Pause on Littleton Public Schools" podcast, McManus described her criminal justice class's annual January field trip to MCI Shirley prison through the "Project Youth" program, where inmates tell students, "I'm guilty of second-degree murder," and her Facing History and Ourselves course, which brings in a 93-year-old Holocaust survivor and a Bosnian genocide survivor.
She also serves on the Teacher Advisory Council for a new Holocaust museum in Boston targeting a May soft opening, and last year took 16 students to a Model United Nations conference in Washington, D.C.
