Lexington Launches Urban Forest Master Plan, Opens Civic Academy Registration
DATELINE — LEXINGTON Lexington has partnered with Davey Resource Group, a subsidiary of the Davey Tree Expert Company, to develop an Urban Forest Master Plan charting a long-term vision for the town's tree canopy, the town announced this week. The move came alongside the opening of registration for the fall Civic Academy and the rollout of a new town waste-guidance tool.
TOWN HALL
The Urban Forest Master Plan will guide investment in Lexington's community trees for years to come, according to the town's website. The planning webpage lays out the scope of the partnership with Davey Resource Group but does not specify a completion date.
Separately, the town opened registration for its annual Fall 2026 Civic Academy, which gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at town government operations. The town also introduced LexSortSmart, a new online tool meant to be a one-stop resource for trash, recycling and compost collection rules. Residents can additionally enroll in Lexington's Community Choice Electricity Program, which the town says typically offers steadier, lower electricity rates than base utility pricing while drawing on renewable energy.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The town's free Summer Concert Series continues Friday, Aug. 7, with Ben Rudnick & Friends, followed by Kadak Chai on Aug. 14. LexFarm's Walking Wednesdays series returns Aug. 5, with additional dates Aug. 12 and 19.
