SOMERVILLE — The Somerville Confirmation of Appointments Committee acted on appointments to four city boards and commissions in a single meeting. The panel recommended Taylor Perkins and Callie Masters to the Fair Housing Commission and Jurek Moultrie-Weathers to the Affordable Housing Trust, which Trust liaison Shaniqua Roper said operates with just six of nine authorized trustees. Chief Sustainability Officer Steve Nutter said the city received "49 applications for 13 slots" on the newly reconstituted Climate Action Commission, and the committee approved the full slate by consensus.
Councilors also voted 4-0, with Councilor McLaughlin absent, to stagger terms for six initial Wage Theft Advisory Committee members: Rodrigo Padaro and Bea Gomez-Mukad for one year, Marianne Walsh and Martin Sanchez for two years, and Yesina Alfaro and Marcy Goldstein-Gelb for three years. A separate order on city clerk hiring practices was kept in committee pending HR consultation.

Correction (Nov. 3, 2026): An earlier version of this story said the committee acted on 15 appointees; it acted on 22, and the meeting was held Monday, July 6. It also misspelled the names of Councilors Hardt and Ewen-Campen, named a councilor the recording does not clearly identify, misstated the Wage Theft Advisory Committee's makeup, and credited several remarks to people the recording does not identify; those remarks are now unattributed.
