Other Committee · Meeting of October 14, 2026

CONCORD — The Concord Economic Vitality Committee agreed to draft a letter raising concerns about the MCI-Concord redevelopment's costs, traffic and process. Members will send comments to Mike Lawson within a week; Lawson and fellow member Greg will produce a draft letter within two weeks for the town's MCI planning committee. Jeff Lee, representing that planning effort, told the committee "you all have incredible backgrounds within the town" but acknowledged members' questions about scheduling were "fair." Members said estimates of 800 to 1,000 housing units could be revised toward roughly half that figure, and noted traffic studies and a 21E environmental assessment have not been completed.

One member described an $88,000 cost to connect a single business sink to town sewer, prompting discussion of reserving sewer capacity for West Concord businesses. Steve argued for postponing any spring Town Meeting action, saying "the likelihood of us being successful is slim to none." The committee also continued work on a zoning amendment to ease permitting for recurring special events and set its next meeting for November 18.
