School Committee Meeting · Meeting of September 22, 2026

BILLERICA — The Billerica School Committee voted to authorize the superintendent to submit a $1.2 million capital funding warrant article to the Fall 2026 Town Meeting. Director of Facilities Sean Bartlett outlined nine projects, including $250,000 for continued flooring and asbestos abatement at the Marshall, Locke, Hajjar and Kennedy schools, $100,000 for ceiling and lighting work at Kennedy and Hajjar, $50,000 for Ditson window leak testing, and $45,000 to convert the Parker School's cooling system. The committee also heard that the Massachusetts School Building Authority selected Billerica as one of 21 districts statewide, out of 38 applicants, for further review of its Locke and Marshall statement of interest, with a decision expected in late November.

Sarah, the new president of the relaunched Billerica CPAC, announced an October 15 "Know Your Rights" workshop and a November 14 family resource fair. Bartlett called the past summer "the shortest summer I've had in the seven and a half years I've been here."
