TOWNSEND — The Historic District Commission took no action on the Townsend Historical Society's lamppost application. Chair Maryjane Churchville presided as a society representative told the commission it lacks jurisdiction over lighting and said he was never notified of September's hearing. The commission then closed the hearing.
A first draft response to an Open Meeting Law complaint against Commissioner Laura Shifrin ended in a tie, but an amended version passed on a roll call and will go to the Attorney General's office. Commissioners also voted 5-0-1 to notify alternate Jennifer Ravellette she is off the board for non-attendance, and approved sign-violation letters for 422 Main Street. A member warned the Attorney General "is going to want to know why" if no letter went out.
