Carlisle Declared Level 3 Critical Drought Region by State

CARLISLE — The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has placed the Northeast Region, which includes Carlisle, under a Level 3 – Critical Drought designation, the town's Board of Health announced, as the Community Preservation Committee opened its fall grant cycle and the town published its July newsletter.

The Level 3 – Critical Drought designation is the most serious water-supply status the state has issued for the region so far this year, according to the Board of Health's announcement on the town website. The advisory did not detail specific new local water restrictions beyond the designation itself.

The Community Preservation Committee is accepting funding applications for its fiscal year 2027 fall grant cycle, with proposals due by noon on Friday, August 14. Approved projects will go before Town Meeting for a vote at the Special Town Meeting scheduled for November 16.

Separately, the town's Transfer Station permit enforcement is in effect, with same-day permit transactions by credit or debit card available at the Police Station; all other transactions are handled by mail, and cash is not accepted. The July edition of the town's municipal newsletter, which includes town and community updates and celebrations, has also been posted.
