Carlisle Board of Health Issues Level 3 Critical Drought Advisory

The Carlisle Board of Health posted a Level 3 Critical Drought Advisory Monday after the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs designated the Northeast Region, including Carlisle, as being in critical drought status — the most severe classification before an emergency declaration.

The Level 3 Critical Drought designation covers the entire Northeast Region of the state, signaling that water resources have fallen to critically low levels. The Board of Health issued the advisory July 6 in direct response to the state's formal classification. Residents should anticipate conservation guidance and potential water-use restrictions tied to the designation. Separately, Transfer Station permit enforcement remains in effect; same-day transactions are available by credit or debit card at the Police Station, with all other transactions processed by mail and no cash accepted.

SCHOOLS

Carlisle Public Schools summer programming got underway Monday, with Summer School running July 6 through August 7. The Main Office is open on a reduced summer schedule, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. During the summer session, the School Street parking lot is closed to the public on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the playground is reserved for enrolled students during those same hours. The district has posted summer learning resources on its website, including reading materials for all grade levels and math practice tools.
