Carlisle Board of Health Confirms Level 3 Critical Drought Status

CARLISLE — The Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has placed the Northeast Region, including Carlisle, in Level 3 – Critical Drought status, the Board of Health announced, as the town's Community Preservation Committee opened its fall grant cycle with an August deadline.

TOWN HALL The Board of Health confirmed this week that the state has escalated the Northeast Region — Carlisle included — to a Level 3, or "Critical," drought designation, the most serious tier the state uses short of emergency status. The advisory typically calls for tighter water-use restrictions; residents should watch town channels for specific conservation requirements.

Separately, the Community Preservation Committee is now accepting applications for its fiscal year 2027 funding round, with awards to be voted on at the November 16 Special Town Meeting. The application deadline is Friday, August 14, at noon. The town also published the July edition of its municipal newsletter, which rounds up department updates and community submissions for the month.

COMING UP The Police Station Building Renovation Committee meets in hybrid format on Friday, July 17. The Fire Station Building Renovation Committee and the Recreation Commission both meet Monday, July 20, with the Fire Station committee's session also held in hybrid format.
