Boxborough panel extends Oscar's Burritos grant, launches MAPC plan

Economic Development Committee · Meeting of February 12, 2026

Boxborough economic panel extends Oscar's Burritos grant, kicks off MAPC planning process. The Economic Development Committee voted 5-0 to push the business's grant deadline to May 14, 2026, after staff liaison Alec Wade reported the $40,000 coffee and pastry buildout has already drawn $31,964 in spending against a $20,000 town grant. MAPC senior planner Austin Knipper formally launched Boxborough's first economic development plan, a yearlong effort through January 2027.

Member Mark White said the town remains "quite dependent" on business revenue, noting "thirty percent of our revenue is coming from businesses," and pressed for clarity after employer SynQor's unexplained move to New Hampshire. Member John Neyland separately criticized the drift of planning articles into the annual town meeting, saying the fall town meeting has lost its original focus.
