Boxborough Library Director Unveils Study Pods, Expects Fall Opening for New Spaces

Boxborough's Sgt. Memorial Library is adding study pods and expanding programming after its first major interior redesign since opening in 2005. Library Director Payshawn Bartley, speaking on the Boxborough Community Buzz on July 29, told host Rajon Hudson that the library reconfigured existing furniture and collection space — without any construction contract — to install several pods, each seating up to four people, for quiet study or small-group discussion.

Bartley said public safety review is ongoing and the pods are expected to open to the public in the fall. Current programming includes two monthly book clubs, a cookbook club, monthly adult craft workshops, two weekly children's craft times, two story times, and two Dungeons and Dragons clubs for youth. The library runs Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from September through June; its website and social media can be found at BoxLib.org and under the handle BoxLib.
