Billerica Scholarship Committee awards 169 scholarships worth $184,650 to class of 2026

Scholarship · Meeting of May 6, 2026

Billerica Scholarship Committee unanimously approved 169 scholarships worth $184,650 for the class of 2026. The awards, split among Billerica Memorial High School ($146,375 across 139 scholarships for 102 students), Shawsheen Valley Technical High School ($32,275 across 27 awards for 17 students), and two Innovation Academy Charter School students, were voted on at the May 6 Zoom meeting after a roll-call approval of the prior month's minutes. One Innovation Academy applicant scored 204 out of a possible 210 points — described by committee members as the highest score in the program's history.

Thirty-four BMHS students did not receive awards, some because they did not apply for enough specific scholarships to clear the allocation threshold. A separate fundraising update showed the Savers clothing drive netted $1,235.42 and the class-of fundraiser's first pickup came in at $2,094, up from $1,718 at the same point last year.
