Billerica panel votes to submit Old Salem Road form
Historic Comm · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Billerica's Historical Commission launched a 185-property historic survey and voted to submit an Old Salem Road form to the state. Chair Alec Ingram and members Michelle Parisi, Marlies Henderson, Keith Levon and Mary Leach approved the August minutes 5-0 and unanimously backed sending Henderson's completed Old Salem Road inventory form to the Massachusetts Historical Commission. Kleinfelder representative Amanda briefed the panel on the 185-form survey, set to begin field work in early November, and flagged an unresolved question over why the town's five cemeteries count as 20 of those forms.
Levon said a state grant for a trolley-subway marker "wouldn't qualify if it's really not visible from public land," and separately raised concerns about Faulkner Kindergarten, a privately owned historic property whose deed leaves no clear successor since all named reversion beneficiaries have died. The commission also said it needs roughly $20,000 more to finish inventorying the town's Level One historic properties.
