Belmont School Committee Ratifies New Contract With Teachers Union

BELMONT — Belmont's School Committee has ratified a new contract with the Belmont Education Association, closing out more than nineteen months of negotiation, collaboration, compromise and mediation between the district and its teachers, according to a posting on the town's website.

TOWN HALL The Department of Public Works will flush "Orange & Red Top" hydrants across town starting Monday, July 13, from 7 p.m. to midnight, the town announced. Residents in affected areas may notice temporary discoloration or reduced water pressure during the work.

SCHOOLS The Belmont School Committee has approved a ratified contract with the Belmont Education Association, the union representing the district's teachers, following more than nineteen months of back-and-forth that included mediation, the town's website reported. The posting did not detail specific contract terms such as salary schedules or duration.

COMING UP The Municipal Skating Rink Building Committee meets remotely Friday, July 17. Hydrant flushing on "Orange & Red Top" hydrants runs Monday, July 13, from 7 p.m. to midnight.
