BELMONT — The Belmont School Committee has ratified new contracts with the Belmont Education Association after more than 19 months of negotiations, while the town postponed removal of a Copper Beech tree due to nesting robins.

TOWN HALL

The Select Board's News Flash spotlighted the resolution of a lengthy labor process: the Belmont School Committee has approved ratified contracts with the Belmont Education Association, a result the town says followed more than 19 months of negotiations, collaboration, compromise and mediation.

Separately, the town has postponed removal of a Copper Beech tree, citing nesting robins discovered at the site; officials did not offer a new timeline. Residents are also reminded that yard waste pickup is now occurring monthly, from July through October 2026, with an updated schedule posted on the town website. Hydrant flushing for "Orange & Red Top" hydrants continues under the previously announced July schedule.

SCHOOLS

Beyond the newly ratified BEA contracts, Belmont Public Schools continues to promote registration for the 2026-2027 school year, which remains open on the district website.
