Bedford Library to Close Early Sept. 5 for Beats and Eats

BEDFORD — The Bedford Public Library will close at noon on Saturday, Sept. 5, so the town can hold its Beats and Eats festival, and library staff are already lining up volunteers to unload this fall's Pumpkin Patch shipment before the season gets underway.

The Bedford Public Library announced it will close early, at 12 p.m., on Saturday, Sept. 5, to accommodate the town's Beats and Eats event. Patrons planning to visit the library that day should plan around the shortened hours.

The library is also recruiting volunteers to help unload a semitruck of pumpkins into its Pumpkin Patch this fall, with deliveries scheduled for Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. and Oct. 12 at 11 a.m. Library staff say unloading the truck normally takes several hours, but they expect a full turnout of community volunteers to clear it faster. Anyone who signs up to help by Sept. 1 will receive a free t-shirt. The library has also posted its Fall 2026 event newsletters for adults, kids, and tweens and teens.
