Ayer Sets Special Town Meeting for Monday Night
AYER — Ayer residents head to Ayer Shirley Regional High School on Monday evening for a Special Town Meeting, the most significant item on the town's near-term calendar as officials also work through proposed changes to Devens governance structure.
TOWN HALL
The Select Board has called a Special Town Meeting for Monday, July 13, at 7 p.m. at Ayer Shirley Regional High School, according to the town's official website. The same evening's schedule shows a Special Select Board Meeting also convening, while the Board of Health meeting originally set for that day has been cancelled.
Town Hall also flagged Proposed Changes to Devens Governance Structure as a current item for residents to review, though the online posting did not provide full details of the proposal. Separately, the town noted that the Statement on Lincoln Hills has been updated to reflect that a stop-work order there has been lifted, and that the 2025 Water Quality Report is now available for residents. The Council on Aging is also seeking a volunteer to join its Board of Directors.
Later in the week, the Council on Aging Board meeting and the Zoning Board of Appeals meeting scheduled for July 14 and July 15, respectively, have both been cancelled, while the Planning Board is still set to meet Tuesday, July 14.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
Ayer Public Library continues to promote its "SUMMER!!!" season of programming, building on its Summer Kickoff Carnival held in June, which featured Ed the Wizard, a bounce house, and a plant and seed swap. The library is also highlighting recently added services, including a new Speed Reads shelf for high-demand titles and free limited 3D printing on a Prusa CORE One machine, made possible through the Friends of the Ayer Library.
The library additionally is inviting community feedback as it begins work on its next strategic plan, asking residents to weigh in on priorities for future library services.
