TOWN HALL
The Special Town Meeting, announced on the town's homepage, will bring residents together at Ayer Shirley Regional High School on Monday, July 13, at 7 p.m. The town has not detailed the full warrant in the materials reviewed, but the meeting follows recent News Flash items flagging Proposed Changes to Devens Governance Structure as an active topic before town officials.
Also on the town's radar: the 2025 Water Quality Report has been released and is available to residents, and the town continues to operate under Mandatory Water Restrictions that took effect May 1, 2026. Separately, the town issued a statement noting that a stop-work order on the Lincoln Hills project has been lifted.
The town is also seeking a volunteer to serve on the Council on Aging Board of Directors, according to the Latest News section of the town website. Two committee meetings are on tap this week: the Sustainability Committee met Wednesday, July 8, and the Conservation Commission is scheduled to meet Thursday, July 9.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Ayer Library is in the midst of its summer programming push, with the Summer Kickoff Carnival having brought Ed the Wizard, a bounce house, activities, and a plant and seed swap to the library on June 20. The library continues to highlight its expanded offerings this summer, including its new 3D printing service via a Prusa CORE One, made possible through the Friends of the Ayer Library, and its Speed Reads section for patrons seeking popular titles without long hold queues.
The library is also gathering community feedback as it develops its next strategic plan, asking residents to weigh in on the future of library services in Ayer and surrounding communities.
