Arlington Conservation Commission Continues Winchester Country Club Hearings, Seeks More Plans

ARLINGTON — January 22, 2026 — Arlington Conservation Commission continues two Winchester Country Club golf course hearings to February 5. The commission voted unanimously at its January 22 meeting to carry over both notices of intent — DEP File 910374 for green and fairway regrading and DEP File 910376 for a rebuilt social pavilion, relocated putting green, and subsurface stormwater system, all near Herbert Myers Brook at 468 Mystic Street — pending a package of outstanding items from applicant consultant Sarah Stearns of Beals and Thomas. Required before closing: a native-plant planting plan for the tee box slope, a Japanese knotweed management plan for the pool-fence buffer area, confirmation that no copper materials are used within jurisdictional areas (prohibited under Arlington's bylaw), an impervious-area accounting, and an independent review of the stormwater report by Arlington's town engineer. Chair Chuck Tironi also reported that the commission's CPA funding request has collapsed from roughly $1.3 million to $140,000 for Cook's Hollow after the CPA Committee adopted a one-project-per-organization rule against his recommendation, leaving the commission to seek alternative grant funding for remaining conservation projects.
